The comfort of a big hug, wherever you go.

Little Hug gives gentle, deep pressure across the shoulders, the same kind of input occupational therapists use in the therapy room. Because it's a cape, it goes where the hard moments happen: the barber chair, the dinner table, the car and the park.

The Octopop clips onto the cape, so busy hands always have something to hold, and the carry bag keeps everything together.

What's in the bundle

● Little Hug weighted sensory cape in black

● Two teal quilted weighted inserts

● Octopop fidget

● Carry bag

Calm Buddi and the SpikeyRing are sold separately.

How it works

Slide the two weighted inserts in, pop the cape over the shoulders, clip on the Octopop, and let them wear it for the moment that feels big like a haircut, a dental visit or a hard afternoon. Check video guide here.

Size and weight guide

Made for children who find calm through deep pressure, including many sensory-seeking kids. Not for children under 3. The inserts weigh 750grams, using both is a weight of 1.5kg.

The cape should weigh no more than 5% of your child’s body weight. These are estimates, as children’s weights vary a lot. Check the size guide below.

Cape laid flat: 130 × 88 cm. Carry bag: 36 × 30 cm.

Materials and care

Polyester outer with a breathable lining.

1. Remove the regulation tools before washing.

2. Hand wash only, in cold water with a mild detergent. No bleach or fabric softener.

3. Line dry, draped evenly over a line or rack so the weight sits flat. Don’t tumble dry, iron or dry clean.

4. Spot clean small marks between washes with a damp cloth and a little mild soap.

5. Check the seams regularly.

Shipping and returns

This is a pre-order. Stock lands in our Sydney warehouse around December and pre-orders dispatch mid-to-late December. Postage is $15 per cape Australia-wide, and the first 100 orders to ship free. Because capes are worn close to the body, we don’t accept change-of-mind returns. If your cape arrives damaged or faulty, email [email protected] within 5 days of delivery and we’ll make it right. Full refund policy.

Safety

Little Hug cape was designed by a speech pathologist and mum to bring calm into everyday moments, like a haircut, a dental visit or a busy afternoon. Like any weighted product, it works best when it’s used with care.

It is a comfort tool, not a medical device. It doesn’t replace therapy or a professional sensory assessment. If you have any questions about your child’s sensory needs or whether weighted items suit them, please talk to a medical professional.

Choose the right weight. A cape should weigh no more than 5–10% of the wearer’s body weight. Our size guide below will help you choose.

Ages 3+. Little Hug cape is not suitable for children under 3 years.

Awake only. Never use Little Hug cape for sleep.

Always under adult supervision. A child wearing the Little Hug cape must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Always let them choose. Never force someone to wear a cape, wearing it should always be a choice. See our tips page for ways to introduce Little Hug cape.

Watch and check in. Keep an eye out for signs of discomfort, overheating or distress, and remove the cape if you notice any.

Use it for no more than 30 minutes at a time.

Take extra care with medical needs. Using a cape for too long or the wrong way can cause overheating, restricted movement or discomfort.

The risk is higher for children with low muscle tone, breathing difficulties or circulation conditions. If this applies to your child, check with their health professional before use.

For hairdressers and other professionals: always get consent from a parent or guardian before offering a Big Hug to a child.

Your responsibility. Please follow these guidelines every time you use a Big Hug. Big Hug Australia is not responsible for injury, loss or damage caused by using a cape in a way that goes against these instructions.

This doesn’t affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
